AIVAST Free AI Guide for Educators

A practical K–12 companion course for classroom teachers. This AIVAST-authored free course helps K–12 educators use AI safely and effectively. Each module maps to a real classroom task — from lesson planning to accommodations — with AIVAST-approved prompts, safety guardrails, and workflows you can use tomorrow morning.

How to use this AIVAST guide

Two ways to navigate

By classroom task

Jump straight to the job you're doing today — worksheets, rubrics, IEP accommodations, newsletters — and copy an AIVAST starter prompt.

By AI-tool category

Each module names the AIVAST-recommended category of tool (chat assistant, image model, slide generator, etc.) so you can use whatever your district has approved.

AIVAST digital citizenship

Safety & responsible AI use

Every AIVAST module assumes these five guardrails. Read them once, model them every day.

  • Never paste a student's personal information, grades, IEP text, or full names into a general-purpose AI tool.
  • Always disclose AI assistance on any published or graded artifact, using the AIVAST attribution line.
  • Fact-check every AI output against a trusted source before it reaches a student.
  • Use AI to extend your judgment, never to replace it — you remain the teacher of record.
  • Model curious, critical use with your students so they learn responsible AI habits from you.
